Serve breakfast or dinner at Pleasant Valley Shelter
-Every day of the year, generous volunteers from churches and other organizations throughout the Pittsburgh area prepare, deliver, and serve meals for the shelter residents. Hundreds of volunteers are involved in this important and much-appreciated process.
Get Free Food out into the Community
Mondays are our busiest behind-the-scenes day. Volunteers help unload our weekly food truck delivery from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and jump into a mix of special projects, random tasks, stocking shelves, and whatever else pops up so we’re ready for the week. It’s a very active shift, so come ready for lots of teamwork! Shift is 8:45-12:15
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are our community-facing days. Volunteers help restock shelves, support shoppers as they choose free food and household items, and keep things running smoothly. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on shift and one of the best ways to connect directly with our neighbors. Shift is 8-12:30
Help in our Free Store
Northside Common Ministries is proud to announce the community Free Store! Open to anyone in the community who may need warm clothes, minor hygiene products, or small household items to get started in their new home. We are in need of volunteers to sort all of the amazing donations we receive every day, so they can be ready to be stocked and organized into our free store!
Groups and team activities are welcome – reach out to learn more about what this can look like (packing emergency boxes, beautification projects, etc.)
